After a long-awaited return, El Gouna Film Festival has officially started its highly anticipated seventh edition on October 24, 2024. This year, the red carpet brings together art, culture and cinema with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Before the ceremony kick-started, we saw a wave of celebrities gracing the red carpet with some of the finest evening fashions.

Among all the stars present, we recognized three in particular that shined especially brighter. Yousra, Nelly Karim as well as Raya Abi Rached walked El Gouna Film Festival Opening wearing Tony Ward Couture. The celebrities turned heads this evening, the first with a custom Tony Ward midnight blue gown, the second in a dress from the house’s latest Fall Winter 2024/25 ‘Nymph Rebirths’ Collection while the third wore a dress from the latest Ready-to-wear Fall-Winter 2024-25 collection.

Yousra, a friend of the house and a long-time legend in the Arab entertainment industry, was styled by Maissa Azab. The gown, combined structure and flow, showcasing geometric embroideries throughout the skirt. These intricate patterns were carefully laid out, reflecting the detailed sketch from which the gown was created.

‘The dress’s construction from sketch to reality was a challenge’ stated the head of Couture’s Ateliers; especially with the addition of shoulder pads that shaped a flattering neckline and structured shoulder look.

On the other hand, Nelly Karim, a star celebrated for her diverse roles and artistic contributions wore a dress that is an intricate masterpiece to say the least. Showcasing the craftsmanship and DNA of Tony Ward’s atelier, the gown is embellished with more than 1,500 handmade leaves, each piece delicately crafted from double-layered silk to give a three-dimensional effect.

These leaves were stitched meticulously onto the dress, with metal threads woven inside to make them stand out, particularly around the neckline, adding a structural element to the delicate design.

The corset itself was fully embellished with Swarovski stones, adding a sparkling dimension that caught the light with every movement Nelly made. The embroidery works combined silk threads, crystals, and beads, demonstrating the meticulous handwork involved in its creation…
