Ramadan, Reframed: Inside Tony Ward’s Kaftan Capsule

      2026-02-13

There is a distinct shift in pace during Ramadan. Dressing follows a different logic, it goes less about statement, more about intentions…

For this season, Tony Ward presents an Abayas and Kaftans capsule that reflects this rhythm, offering a refined approach to occasion dressing shaped by cultural awareness, designed to move seamlessly between ritual and reality.

Rooted in tradition yet precise in its execution, the collection redefines occasion dressing for quieter hours.Designed for intimate gatherings, graceful suhoors, and moments shared close to home, the capsule speaks through silhouette, fabric, and refined detailing.

Crafted within the House ateliers, the collection balances Tony’s structure signature with the silhouette fluidity. Allures are elongated and controlled, shaped by soft draping, cinched waists, and flowing layers that follow the body movement rather than constrain it. Abayas unfold in silk crepe, silk, soft tulle, and lace: materials carefully selected for how they interact with sparkles, filtering it gently as the evening progresses.

    • The color palette is calm yet expressive. Powder blue, ivory, champagne, blush, and soft beige are contrasted by deeper hues of burgundy, black, and antique metallic gold. These tones are not ornamental; they are stitched into creating a base for embroidery that feels intentional without feeling staged or imposed. Gold and silver threads trace necklines, cuffs, and edges with a sense of quiet continuity, while beadwork appears scattered, layered, or concentrated to guide softly the eye rather than overwhelm it.

Baroque-inspired motifs soften into fluid patterns. Galaxy-like bead placements evoke distance and depth. Metallic raffia, fine threadwork, and subtle tassels adding texture without weight. The savoir-faire serves atmosphere, allowing the garments to breathe.

Designs range from sculptural abayas with detachable belts and embroidered shoulders to lighter, cape-like forms that drift with each step. Kimono sleeves, elongated slits, open fronts, and tailored lapels offer versatility, allowing each piece to adapt naturally to the moment. These are garments meant to be worn through conversation, reflection, and transitions: they are not static they move in dialogue with the moment.

Rather than following a single mood, the capsule unfolds across moments. Some pieces feel almost architectural, others softer, closer to the body. Light catches where it should, fades where it needs to. The silhouettes suggest movement without demanding it, allowing the clothes to exist naturally within the rhythm of Ramadan evenings, between arrivals and departures, conversations and pauses. It is a collection shaped by timing as much as design, aware of when to be seen and when to simply remain.

As Ramadan approaches, the Abayas and Kaftans capsule will be introduced in Tony Ward boutiques, where these pieces will find their natural setting. Chosen slowly, worn intuitively, and lived in fully: this is a collection that reveals itself not at first glance, but over time, through movement, light, and the moments that matter most…
