      2026-05-28

What does it actually take to rule the Cannes Film Festival 2026 red carpet?

If you ask anyone working behind the scenes at Tony Ward, the answer is simple: endless espresso, late-night stitches, and a lot of running across the Croisette.

While the world watches the sleek montée des marches in awe, our festival reality is a high-adrenaline blur. It is a world of midnight fittings in hotel rooms, rushing across Cannes with garment bags, and our Atelier artisans staying up until sunrise to perfect a single hemline. From archival Tony Ward Couture gowns to exclusive custom creations, we dressed powerhouse talents from different generations. They all chose Tony Ward for the same reason: a shared love for craftsmanship, sculptural silhouettes, and modern red carpet glamour.

Here is how the magic unfolded, frame by frame.

One of the most talked-about appearances of the festival came from Indian actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who stepped onto the red carpet in a fluid lime-green Tony Ward Couture gown from the Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The daring draping, asymmetrical movement, and cinematic train instantly became one of the standout fashion moments of Cannes 2026.

    • Egyptian actress Laila Zaher also drew major attention in a Tony Ward Couture design, proving how younger actresses are increasingly gravitating toward timeless craftsmanship. On another side of the Croisette, French influencer Lena Mahfouf brought fresh modern energy to the Lights On Women’s Worth Dinner in a flowing hooded silhouette from the Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2025/26 collection.

Model Adot Gak delivered one of the boldest fashion statements of the festival in a sculptural cherry-red silk duchesse Couture gown with a gold embroidered bodice and dramatic train; A look that balanced strength with theatrical movement. Meanwhile, Coco Schiffer introduced an edgier side of the House in a luminous embroidered Couture look layered over sheer illusion tulle.

Across the festival, the House explored many different expressions of Cannes red carpet fashion. Danielle Vasinova embraced sharp architectural lines in vivid red Couture. Carina Zavline appeared in a fully hand-embroidered silver Couture gown from the archives. Elettra Lamborghini brought shimmering drama through multicolored crystal embellishments and sculpted beadwork.

At amfAR, Mahira Abdelaziz opted for a sharper minimal direction through graphic cut-outs and clean crepe construction, while Mika Schneider embraced romantic beadwork and floral embroidery in a fitted tulle silhouette.

    • The festival also became a space for archival Couture to return to the spotlight. Mary Leest, Sylvie Tellier, Rosslyn Luke, and Bibi Books all appeared in archival Tony Ward Couture creations, highlighting how craftsmanship and silhouette transcend seasons.

Elsewhere on the Riviera, Gizele Oliveira wore a gradient embroidered Couture look ahead of her red carpet appearance, while Andria Tayeh appeared in a custom white georgette gown inspired by the statues of the Petit Trianon. Sophie Dorn, Hoda Eletreby, Alessia Merzlova, Franziska Nazarenus, and many others each brought their own interpretation of the House’s evolving language between Couture, Ready-to-Wear, and modern flair.

As the flashbulbs dim on the 79th edition of Cannes, these diverse fashion moments go beyond the photographs… Cannes remains about the invisible work behind every appearance. The ateliers refining beadwork until the final hour. Teams crossing the Riviera between fittings and premieres. Dresses carefully reshaped backstage minutes before montée des marches. The sleepless nights and back-alley rushes were worth every second.

A la prochaine, Cannes! Onto the next adventure…
